About Us

Our Philosophy

At Brockwell Tutors, our approach to tuition rests on four core principles:

01

A curated team of exceptional tutors

Our tutors are handpicked for their deep subject knowledge, adaptive and engaging approach to teaching, and understanding of the examination and admissions landscape.

  • Our Specialists:
    • Qualified teachers with years of classroom experience in their specialist subjects, and first-hand knowledge of curriculum content, exam-board requirements, and what schools are looking for.
    • Highly-experienced tutors with 300+ hours of one-to-one tuition under their belt, and a proven track record of delivering results from 11+ through to University admissions.
    • Top-performing Oxbridge graduates, many of whom are now experts in their own field, with hands-on experience supporting students through the application process.
  • Our Scholars:
    • University graduates and undergraduates with exceptional GCSE and A-level results, many of whom have gone on to earn higher qualifications in their specialist subjects while gaining tutoring experience.
    • Early-career tutors who have themselves succeeded at the very schools your children are applying for, and understand the admissions process and academic demands of school life first-hand.

Every tutor is personally interviewed, thoroughly vetted, and DBS-checked before joining Brockwell Tutors.

02

Targeted tuition built around personalised goals

From focused preparation for a specific examination to holistic support throughout an admissions process, each tuition package is designed with a clear objective in mind.

  • A free 30-minute consultation with a member of our Senior Team, during which we work with you to establish exactly what's needed — and set out a clear objective for your lessons — before carefully matching you with a tutor.
  • A choice of flexible tuition packages — including consistent weekly lessons, focused examination support, and holistic admissions support — designed around the agreed objective and tailored to your preferred schedule.
  • Ongoing communication to refine objectives and adapt plans if needed — nothing is locked-in indefinitely.
03

Evidence-informed teaching and learning

We draw on extensive research into how students learn most effectively to structure our lessons and inform our teaching and feedback.

  • What does a Brockwell Tutors lesson look like?

    Retrieve

Lessons begin by revisiting relevant knowledge from previous learning, using questions and short activities to bring it back to mind, check understanding, and identify gaps.

    Explain, Model, and Practise

Lessons typically follow an I Do–We Do–You Do structure: tutors break down challenging material and model effective approaches, before working through examples with students and gradually handing over responsibility.

    Feedback and Apply

Tutors provide immediate, specific feedback and help students put it into practice, consolidating understanding and informing the focus of future lessons.

04

A clear path to meaningful progress

We work closely with families and tutors, checking in regularly to review progress, refine objectives, and determine the next steps for each student to achieve their goals.

  • A detailed tutor report after every lesson, covering what was taught, what went well, areas to revisit, and what's next.
  • A free Progress Review with a member of our Senior Team after four lessons.
  • If a change is needed to ensure meaningful progress — a different tutor, a revised pace, or a new objective — your Senior Team contact arranges it directly.

Testimonials

See what parents and students have to say about their experience with our tutors:

"Rohan has been absolutely outstanding. I have had a number of tutors through our doors with both our sons across the years and he has been brilliant in his professionalism, preparation, communication with us and thought about lessons and style of teaching. I really appreciate his input with my son and the care he has put into making sure all areas have been covered and revised where necessary. My son has progressed in his maths and, regardless of 11+ results, I believe he now has a great foundation in the subject ahead of secondary."

— Parent, 11+ Maths

"History was one of my best GCSE results. I've gone from a pretty consistent Grade 4 in the mocks to a high Grade 6 in the final exam, only a few marks off a Grade 7. Clearly your 8-mark and 16-mark practice questions and tutorials on how to phrase responses helped a lot, and I definitely would not be on a Grade 6 without the help. You are an amazing teacher."
